One more baptism at St Stephen’s, and the final readings set down from the Sermon on the Mount. The Corinthian reading is set in a context of discord and division and Paul’s judgement on that, but I wanted to explore the aspects of holiness as I se them in relation to the baptism of a child. I also draw from some teaching I experienced from Walter Wink about these “non-retaliatory” texts, and I finish with a personal illustration. That part came out of a paper I prepared and delivered at the Theology, Spirituality and Cancer Symposium held at Auckland University last week. I will post links to the full presentation soon.
