WHere does Obedience fit in with a Faith built on Relationship?
In drawing this together I am grateful for the insights of Len Sweet in “Out of the Question… Into the Mystery” as he reflected on this most difficult passage.
I also adapted the 20 questions he noted he wanted answers for and handed that out after and found that there was a warm response to them.
There is still more to be said about this fractured family, and about the clear break in the relationship between Abraham and Yahweh God that occurs from this episode on.

Trinity Sunday

I had a response to a sermon challenging my approach to sin – too lax.
This gives my starting place and in its various iterations over the years has helped pastorally. Too many people have come seeking healing and they have real difficulty in accepting the goodness of God’s gift of life and love because basically they feel they are fatally flawed and beyond redemption.

Words for a mission Statement

On Sunday 29th, we worked on words for a refreshed mission statement.
Six groups worked together as part of our worship and then after a couple of rotations we ended up with six sets of words.
I fed them into a beautiful little program called Wordle which separated out all the common usages and then weighted the remainder to produce a word picture with the most important being the largest.
This is the Wordle picture which resulted:
